BUSINESS STATEMENT
-
26 JULY: HONG KONG
1. After the Business Statement on 26 July members raised three points relating to Hong Kong.
a) Mr Mark Carlisle sought an early debate if any agreement
on the future of Hong Kong was reached during the recess.
b)
c)
Mr David Young asked that the government should state their intentions about consulting the House about the negotiations which are due to be finalised by September.
Mr Robert Parry drew attention to EDM 931 (physical violence of police against civilian squatters) and sought an assurance that similar incidents would not occur during the recess.
Mr Biffen made suitable responses to all three points.
