The Future of Hong Kong: Opinion Poll
You may be interested to see the enclosed report of an opinion poll conducted in January by an elected member of the Eastern District Board.
As with so many of these ameteur polls the findings need to be treated with some caution. The questions were generalised and posed in such a way as to suggest the answer yes. Respondents were not asked if they preferred the continuation of the status quo. Furthermore the sample was not fully representative of the population of Chai Wan. For example 56% of respondents were male whereas in official estimates 52% of the population of Chai Wan is male. The sample is also weighted towards those in the under-40s group (75% against official estimates for Chai Wan of 70%).
