B. Freedom and stability

Those attending the seminars stressed the importance of freedom and stability which Hongkong people are now enjoying. should be preserved despite future changes.

C. Existing systems to remain unchanged

These two factors

Although the existing systems are not perfect, we believe improve- ments can be made under the joint efforts of Hongkong people and with assistance from Britain and China.

The Chinese and British governments should publish the contents of the agreement as soon as possible in order to relieve the anxieties of Hongkong people.

The Chinese and British governments should consider extending the transitional period and should not be bound by the 1997 deadline.

Conclusion:

Hongkong people should show concern for Hongkong affairs. They should make useful and constructive comments on the future issue and work hard for the future prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.

It is also hoped that the Chinese and British governments would look after the wishes of Hongkong people when drawing up the final agreement.
