2.2 Respondents' views on choosing members of the highest policy-
making bodies under future self-rule:
Nearly half (46.46%) of the respondents favoured democratic election while the next best choice was for the majority to be elected and minority by appointment/consultation (20.11%). This shows that over 65% preferred democratic election. Only 1.69% agreed that all members should be appointed directly by China. (See Table 13)
