group that was most worried about the Chinese government's interference with Hong Kong's internal administration was the one that favoured continuation of British rule. (94.7% mail questionaires and 89.9% interviews). For those respondents who favoured "Hong Kong people self-rule", 80.2% (66.9%) expressed their worries about the interference. While on the other hand, both of the respondents of mail questionaires and interviews showed a similar tendency that the one who favoured China governing Hong Kong was the one who was least worried about the interference. (Please refer to Table 2.2 for details.)

(iii) Concerning the worries of post-1997, sex
difference was identified from their response, i.e. female tended to be more worried than male. This tendency was

consistent in two data collection methods and in different situations. Age1, to some extent, had some correlation with the respondents' worries. Among the mail questionaires, the respondents aged 21-30 were relatively not so worried about the post-1997. Whereas among those interviewed, those aged 41-50 was the group that was less worried. (Table 2.3 & 2.4)
(iv) In respect of their worries of the
post-1997 period, there was a significant. difference between the mailed questionaires and interviews. More
