(3) In response to the question of which side should propose
"amendments" to the "basio laws" after 1997, 1,294 students chose the
option "either China or Hong Kong", representing 54.4% of all "valid
questionnaires". 981 students chose "Hong Kong", representing 41.2% of
all "valid questionnaires".
(4) In response to the question of how the "amendment proposals"
should be passed, 1,011 students chose the option, "to be passed by the
National People's Congress of China and by a referendum conducted in
Hong Kong", representing 42.5% of all "valid questionnaires", Those who
favoured that proposals should "be passed by the National People's Congress
of China and by the Hong Kong Municipal Council" and "be passed by a
referendum conducted in Hong Kong" accounted for 24% respectively of all
"valid questionnaires".
(V) Attitudes of students towards the future issue:
(1) 1,594 respondents answered "no" to the question whether
their parents met the requirements for emigration application, representing
67% of all "valid questionnaires".
(2) Of the 271 students whose parents met the requirements for
emigration application, 177 answered "no" to the question whether their
parents had "made preparations or applied for emigration because of Hong
Kong's future", accounting for 66% of all those "who answered this
question". 91 said "yes", accounting for 34% of all those "who answered
this question".
