FUTURE OF HONG KONG:
BRIEFING THE CANADIANS
1. I should have recorded earlier that Mr Schram (Political Counsellor at the Canadian High Commission) called on 1 May to be briefed on the last two rounds of talks and on the Secretary of State's visit to Peking and Hong Kong.
2. I briefed him along the lines of the briefing telegrams which we have sent to old Commonwealth posts, supplementing these with general information on the latest round of talks.
