I have been invited by the Japanese Government to visit Japan for the first half of February and I am hoping to stop off in Peking and Hong Kong on the way back.
I would very much welcome an opportunity to talk to you and anyone else you think I should see about Hong Kong matters, bearing in mind in particular that we shall be putting together in the new year a paper on the prospects for the Chinese sticking to the agreement. My programme is not yet finalised but I would expect to arrive in Hong Kong around Wednesday 13 February.
I shall be staying with my sister Mrs Lim, Flat 6B, 21 Borrett Road, tel no 5-225989 (whose husband works in the Receivers Department of the Treasury) but would in principle expect to be available for talks on either Thursday 14 February or Friday 15 February.
I will let you know when the programe is finalised.
