Military enterprises to help develop auto industry (Excerpts) A leading comrade of the State Council called for military industrial departments to develop the auto industry with their production capabilities. The Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence recently called a special meeting to discuss this matter. The meeting decided to make full use of the favourable conditions of military industrial enterprises in technology and equipment to produce various types of motor vehicles on the principle of specialisation and large-scale co-operation and with good quality, high standards and good economic results. . .
After consultation, they decided to form joint enterprises on the basis of mutual benefit and asistance to manufacture mini-cars as well as light and heavy-duty motor vehicles. Gansu science association to help enterprises The provincial conference on scientific work which concluded on 29th November put forward that it is necessary to help township and town enterprises develop and to regard this as the starting point of scientific work and scientific reform. The Provincial Science Association has reached an agreement with the provincial township and town enterprises management bureau and is prepared to help 500 township and town enterprises. It has asked each of the industrial departments at the provincial level and all societies, research institutes and prefectural and county associations to help a township and town enterprise at the least. New Xinhua economic service Beginning from 1st January 1985, Xinhua will have an economic information service. Through facsimile and mail, it will send Chinese and foreign economic, scientific and technological information to its subscribers.
