Curfew lifted in last remaining areas of Punjab (Text) In Punjab, the night curfew has been lifted from Amritsar and Jullundur following improvement in the situation. With this the state has become completely curfew free. The night curfew was clamped in some cities and towns of the state as a precautionary measure following the assassination of Mrs Gandhi. An official spokesman told the All India Radio Chandigarh correspondent that the law and order situation throughout the state continues to be peaceful and under control. Souphanouvong attends meeting on drafting constitution Assembly and the sub-commission for drafting the constitution and electoral laws held a conference in Vientiane on 30th November under the chairmanship of President Souphanouvong to review drafting of the first constitution and the electoral laws of Laos. Souphanouvong, President of the LPDR and the PSA, stressed that in the process of perfecting democracy and proletarian dictatorship, the country needs a well-defined constitution to guarantee the fundamental rights of the people. Sali Vongkhamsao closes accountancy meeting The first national conference on accountancy for construction work was successfully closed on the afternoon on 24th November after five days of keen discussion. The conference was attended by 120 accountants from many companies and departments in Vientiane municipality and other provinces. Attending the closing ceremony was Sali Vongkhamsao, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and Chairman of the State Planning Committee. At the closing ceremony, Sali Vongkhamsao addressed the participants, emphasising the strong and weak points as well as remaining problems in accountancy work. At the same, time, he called on all accountancy cadres to further enhance a sense of responsibility in realising the Party's political duties and fulfilling their targets, thus contributing to the revolutionary struggle to defend and build the country. Revival of communist activities in Kelantan Deputy Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Mohamed Amin Osman has disclosed that there are signs that the outlawed Communist Party of Malaya [CPM] is reviving its terrorist activities in the rural areas of Kelantan. He says the terrorists of the CPM 10th regiment are active in the area near the border with Thailand. They are making use of Islam to seek the support of Malays. He was speaking at a conference of the [name indistinct] branch of the Consumers Co-operative Association in Johor Baharu. Tan Sri Mohamed Amin said the regiment tries to infiltrate into the Kelantan border areas with the intention of recruiting more supporters. The CPM has also formed the so-called Malayan Revolutionary Malay National Party to try to win Malay support. (Kuala Lumpur home service in English 1130 gmt 1 Dec 84)
