At a time when Hong Kong's future remains undecided, its freedom is being threatened, and its history is at a turning point, those Hong Kong people who wish to maintain a free life style are extremely worried. In accordance with the international law, the United Nations Charter and the Declaration of Euman Rights, Hong Kong citizens have the right to decide their own destiny and choose the kind of life style according to their wishes. They have the right to be taken good care of and protected by Britain by virtue of the repeated pledges of the Queen and the Frime Minister Mrs. Margaret Thatcher to take up 'moral obligation' in favour of the Hong Kong people. Thus the demand of the Hong Kong people to lead free life subject to rule and order and resist the intrusion of the autocratic system of Communist China should be respected by Britain as well as sympathized and supported by the people all over the world. Never- theless, in holding the so called 'Hong Kong's future' talks, Britain has changed from its original stand in resisting the unilaterally imposed dead- line as against the usual rules to adopting a dubious attitude of tacit consent. This has greatly shocked the Hong Kong people who have formed an impression that Britain and China are making an illicit transfer through the talks. Nevertheless, we rejoice at learning that the Honourable R.H. Lobo will put forward a motion to the Legislative Council to the effect
