BACKGROUND

The Prime Minister is aware of the general background to the Secretary of State's visit to the Far East.

A draft reply to a Parliamentary Question, tabled by Mr Colin Moynihan MP for oral reply by Mr Luce on 25 April, is attached.
3. As agreed with the Opposition, the Leader of the House will announce after Prime Minister's question time on 26 April, in reply to a question from the Opposition, that there will be a half-day debate on Hong Kong next week. It is understood that the debate is likely to take place on 3 May.
