Dear John
You may recall that a delegation of Members of the Legislative and Executive Councils of Hong Kong visited London in May to express their views on the negotiations which have been taking place between the British and Chinese Governments about the future of Hong Kong.
Since then, members of the delegation have had talks with Mr Deng Xiaoping and other members of the Chinese Government in Peking and the leader of that delegation, Sir Sze-Yeun Chung, the most prominent representative of the Hong Kong people, has expressed a wish to meet with our Committee when he is in London in mid-July.
I have therefore arranged a dinner meeting for Monday, 16th July at
7 PM in Dining Room B at the House of Commons, and should be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible whether you would be able to attend.
With all good wishes
Yours
Erev
