Plant Protection Agreement for the Asia and Pacific Region Amendments relating to mandatory contributions by Contracting Governments

The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has the honour to draw attention to the Plant Protection Agreement for the Asia and Pacific Region, which entered into force on 2 July 1956.
At its Thirteenth Session (Manila, Philippines, April 1983), the Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commission established under the Agreement, endorsed certain amendments to the Agreement prepared by the FAO Secretariat at the request of the Twelfth Session of that body. The purpose of these amendments was to introduce mandatory contributions for the Contracting Governments in order to finance the programme of activities of the Commission.
In accordance with Article IX.2 of the Agreement, these amendments were submitted to the Council for approval. The Council, at its Eighty-fourth Session (November 1983), approved the aforesaid amendments which are reproduced in Annex I hereto; the text underlined being added and the text in square brackets being deleted.
