XVIA.

Every Elected Member of the

Legislative Council shall hold office as an

Elected Member and vacate his seat in the

Council in accordance with the electoral Ordinance referred to in Clause XIII(1) (e).".

6. The principal Instructions are amended by deleting Clause XVII and substituting the following

"Declaration of vacancy among Appointed Members.

XVII.

Any provisions in the electoral Ordinance referred to in Clause XIII(1) (ė) relating to the disqualification of any person from holding office as an Elected Member so that his office shall become vacant shall apply to an Appointed Member as they apply to an Elected Member, and where an Appointed Member is affected by any of the circumstances which would, if he were an Elected Member, cause him to be disqualified so that his office would become vacant, the Governor shall declare in writing that the seat of such Appointed Member is vacant, which declaration shall be published in the

Hong Kong Government Gazette, and such

Appointed Member shall cease to be an Appointed

Member of the Council.".
