Conclusions of the mecting of experts on refugee aid and development
At the meeting on 23 February 1983 of Permanent Representatives in Geneva of member States of the Executive Committee, the Swedish delegation suggested that a meeting of experts be convened to examine the relationship between refugee aid and development assistance and related questions. A similar suggestion had been made earlier by the spokesman for the voluntary agencies and supported by the delegation of the United Republic of Tanzania. The High Commissioner accepted the suggestion and a group of experts has been convened to meet from 29 to 31 August 1983 ncar Vevey, Switzerland. The conclusions of the meeting will be transmitted by the High Commissioner to the thirty-fourth session of the Executive Committee.
8. UNHCR's role in promoting durable solutions
This item has been included on the agenda at the request of the Government of Australia, as made at the thirty-third session of the Executive Committee. The Director of Assistance will introduce the item and those parts of document A/AC.95/620, "Report on UNHCR Assistance Activities in 1982-1983 and Proposed Voluntary Funds Programmes and Eudget for 1984" which deal with durable solutions.

UNHCR assistance activities
The Director of Assistance will introduce the item and those portions of document A/AC.96/620. "Report on UNHCR Assistance Activities in 1982-1983 and proposed Voluntary Funds Programmes and Budget for 1984", dealing with assistance activities. (Those parts of the document dealing with administrative and budgetary matters will be introduced by the Director of Administration and Management under item 10.) .
A report on resettlement (A/AC-96/624) will be introduced through a separate statement in accordance with a decision taken by the Committee at its thirty-second session (A/36/12/Add.1, para. 79C).
Decisions which the Committee traditionally adopts relating to this item will be made taking into account the result of discussions held under item 10.
At its thirty-third session, the Committee adopted the following recommendations and decisions requiring action by the High Commissioner in the field of assistance activities: A/37/12/Add.1, para. 96 A(g) and B(e-f).

Administrative and financial matters
The Director of Administration and Hanagement will give a general introduction to the item; he will also introduce those parts of document A/ ̃C.96/620, "Report on UNHCR Assistance Activities in 1982-1983 and proposed Voluntary Funds Programmes and Budget for 1984", which deal with administrative and budgetary matters. In this connection, the Committee will have before it the Report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions on the Report on UNHCR Assistance Activities in 1982-1983 and proposed Voluntary Funds Programmes and Budget for 1984 (A/AC.96/621).
