We have not reached a final decision yet on what to do about
the refugees rescued by the Po Yang.

I have been pressing the Voluntary Services Unit in the
Home Office about arrangements for calling forward those
rescued by the City of Edinburgh. Unfortunately the voluntary
agencies have proved reluctant (understandably) to commit
themselves to taking refugees just before Christmas. Home Office
are now finalising estimates of expenditure (which they will
have to reimburse the agencies) and hope to begin calling for-
ward the refugees later in the month. I have assured Richard
I shall be chasing them weekly.
