I appreciate the disappointment felt by many of the Vietnamese over
the criteria for family re-union applications.
question very closely but, given our other commitments in the refugee
and general immigration field, I am afraid that further concessions
to the Vietnamese cannot be justified. We will of course continue to
allow the spouse and minor children of refugees already settled here
to join them and to look as sympathetically as possible at applications
from other relatives. I-am-surry that I am not yet in a position to
reply to your letter of 12 NOVEMBER about the relatin of the
ves
unaccompanied minors but I hope to do so in the near future.
