We have spoken to the Treasury who have discussed
with the Bank. In fact Blye had already telexed David Holland
in the Bank of England direct. Holland will be away at the time
but a lunch has been fixed at the Bank of England on 5 December hosted by Goodhart at which Peretz will be present. This should
provide a good opportunity for detailed discussion which can
continue later as necessary. It is envisaged that at the lunch
they can discuss possible meetings with others and also the need
for a further discussion before Blye's return to Hong Kong.
