amendments to the Exchange Fund Ordinance were required.
The Council expressed the view that great care
should be taken to ensure that these measures were properly
understood by the public.
The Financial Secretary reported that the Secretary
of State had given his consent to the transfer of $250 millions
from the Exchange Fund to General Revenue.
(The Secretary for Monetary Affairs, Mr D.W.A. BLYE,
the Deputy Secretary for Monetary Affairs, Mr A.R. LATTER,
and the Deputy Secretary for Economic Services, Dr A. MCLEAN,
attended before the Council for the discussion of this item.)
The meeting adjourned at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 12 October;
resumed at 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 13 October, and concluded
at 12.10 p.m.
