HONG KONG'S ECONOMIC VALUE TO CHINA
1. You will recall a JIC Report on this subject (2JC 6/301/1) back in April, a copy of which went to Hong Kong.
2. At the request of a member of EXCO the Economic Services Branch in Hong Kong produced their own paper on the subject in June. Hong Kong have just sent us the attached copy (one only). It is clearly a factual paper rather than a political analysis. You may be interested to glance through it. Mr Hallett in particular may wish to offer some comment (and also have a copy made for ESID).
