Electricity and gas

Electricity consumption in the first quarter, at
2 657 million kilowatt hours, was 11% higher than in the first quarter of 1982. Industrial consumption increased by 18,
while domestic and commercial consumption increased by 16%
each. Electricity exports to China amounted to 88 million
kilowatt hours, equivalent to 38 of total electricity consumption in Hong Kong. Gas consumption was 26% higher in the first quarter of 1983 than in the corresponding period of 1982. Increases of 25% and 31% were recorded for domestic and
commercial consumption respectively.
