The number of visitors coming

coming to Hong Kong in

the third quarter of 1983 was 3% higher than in the third

quarter of 1982. Visitors from the United States, Canada,

and Western Europe increased by 21%, 22% and 2%

respectively, while those from Japan decreased by 10%. At

the end of September 1983, there were 17 393 hotel rooms

in Hong Kong as compared with 17 433 a year ago. The average hotel occupancy rate in the third quarter was 82%,

slightly higher than in the corresponding period of last

year.
