4. Programme. Their first enquiry is on Grenada, with a visit to the Caribbean in the week of 16 January and evidence from FCO Ministers on 25 January. The Falklands enquiry left over from the last Parliament will be completed after further FCO evidence in February. An enquiry into the security of micro-states will start in February.

5. On the Estimates front, they intend to take evidence on our Spring Supplementaries in late February for a quick report to the House which may well be debated. A more leisurely look at the Main Estimates/Public Expenditure White Paper will follow, more broad brush than in previous years. Other potential enquiries are on the backburner for some months at least.

6.

General evidence. The Secretary of State will probably appear before the Committee again in late February to be questioned on a range of topical matters. These as usual will be agreed with the Committee a week or so beforehand.

Familiarisation. We are arranging for the Committee to spend some time in the Office meeting Ministers and officials, probably on 31 January. This will involve presentations by a number of you or your Under-Secretaries; and some of your departments will be visited by the Members.
