MP'S LETTER ON THE FUTURE OF HONG KONG: MR ROBERT ADLEY MP
1. I submit a draft reply from Mr Luce to Mr Adley's letter of 20 July to the Secretary of State.
2. I must admit that I am a bit surprised that Mr Adley should
have passed on Mr Chadderton's views. The ''International Settlement'' idea does not accord too well with Mr Adley's
own point that we should avoid irritating Peking, who would
certainly smell a whiff of the ancien régime about it.
