Year Tin,
Thank you for your letter of 3 September regarding a copy of a letter about Hong Kong sent to the Prime Minister from one of your constituents Mr S T Chau.
You may like to know that Mr Chau also copied the letter to the Secretary of State with a 'demand' that he might meet the Governor of Hong Kong during the latter's visit to London (5-9 September). A reply was sent to him informing him that unfortunately the Governor's schedule was already full. His letter to the Prime Minister is about to be acknowledged. He has already discussed it over the telephone with a member of the Hong Kong Department here.
I am attaching a draft passage which you may wish to use in your reply to Mr Chau. I hope you may find it suitable.
Yours
Smeert
incerely,
The Rt Hon Timothy Raison MP
