CALL BY LORD KADOORIE ON THE PRIME MINISTER, AUGUST 1983
In connection with this call (precise timing as yet unknown) I attach:
1.
a) a draft minute from Mr Clift to the Private Secretary covering; b) a draft letter to No 10 containing points on which the Prime
Minister may wish to draw if Lord Kadoorie raises the question of Hong Kong's future.
2.
I explained to Mr Holmes yesterday that the DOI were taking the lead on briefing for the call. He said that when he had received our draft letter covering the "future" aspect, he would make enquiries about the timing of the call and then insert the appropriate dates where required, in the draft.
