matters. The other Minister of State in the Auswaertiges Amt,
Herr Moellemann is a member of the FDP. His main role is
to provide political support for Herr Genscher. Dr Mertes is
the only effective German interlocutor for our Ministers of
State.
7. Mr Rifkind's talks with Dr Mertes would not of course
rule out a visit to Bonn later on.
