We do not keep the Germans regularly abreast of developments in the Sino-British talks but Lady Young
briefed Dr Mertes (Minister of State, FRG Ministry of
Foreign Affairs), who visited London from 12-13
September. Dr Mertes described the FRG 's interest in
the conclusion of a Sino-British agreement on Hong Kong.
