I enclose an extract relating to Hong Kong from the record of the meeting between Mr Hayden and the Chinese Foreign Minister in New York on 3 October 1983. Also included is a brief comment by the Australian Mission to the United Nations on the Hayden/Wu conversation.
My High Commissioner, Sir Victor Garland, has asked if this record of discussion could be passed to Mr Giffard.
