Economic Issues
9.
Canada is very vulnerable to fluctuations in the
United States economy and is only just starting to climb
out of severe recession. The Canadians will be
interested in the Prime Minister's account of her
handling of the British economy. Among international
economic questions, the prospects for the US economy and
developing country issues (in which Mr Trudeau takes a

will also wish to hear the Prime Minister's views on the
organisation of the 1984 Economic Summit, the handling of
the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in November
and Mrs Ghandi's proposal for a UN Summit.

Current differences include newsprint and fish quotas and
the Canadian measures to protect their off shore oil
industry.
Falkland Islands
11.
The Canadian Government gave us firm support during

Minister will wish to give a first hand account of our
policy.
Future of Hong Kong
