International economic issues are at the heart
of our mind. An important year, including NAM Summit in
March, 977 Foreign Ministers in April, the
Williamsburg Summit in May and UNCTAD V in June. We
shall ensure that developing countries' concerns are
taken properly into account at Williamsburg, and
we remain committed to launching the global negotiations.
We must try to avoid North/South confrontation,
particularly at UNCTAD. No-one will benefit from it, India
has great experience and influence and we hope you will,
like us, be looking for a positive and constructive
approach.
Very interested in your views.

during the next two days. Meanwhile, would
like your views on the issues I have mentioend and also to
hear from you about the sub-Continent, including
Afghanistan and Indo/Pakistan relations, and to hear how
you see the prospects for the NAM Summit, and how India
sees its role in the NAM over the next three years.
