The effect on individual industries and individual factories would be patchy, depending on the extent

the loss of confidence. The effect on some industries would be more immediate; some more gradual. But since many factories in Hong Kong are small in size and carry out basically subcontracting work for the larger factories, the contraction of operation of some large factories could have a chain effect on other smaller factories, i.e. some small factories might have to close down.
