Dear Mr Ritkind.

s.The

I was very pleased when I heard that you might be able to come and talk to us here at Glengyle Terrace sometime this Autumn. I met you last at your very pleasant election victory celebration and I introduced two prospective Y.C.'s to you. One has since joined us at Pentlands Y.C. main reason for this letter is that unfortunately I cannot come to the evening when you visit us, when I had hoped to bring this matter up with you, so instead I am having to write to you. I have to attend Freshers week at Newcastle and that is why I am unable to discuss the matter personally with you, and I am sorry about that, so I hope you do not mind me writing direct to you.

Two other young Conservatives and myself have founded a small political club, which is holding an inaugural dinner at the Caledonian Club on the 22nd of December and we have invited 20 or so other young Conservatives along who are also friends of ours, as well as a regional and a district councillor. My aim in this is that it should be a club of like- minded friends and not just a political gathering, but there will be Folitics, and I am of the opinion that politics should as a subject be taken seriously.

I have decided to produce, at my own expense, a magazine called "The Right Club Review" which I will launch at the dinner.I hope to go on and publish it quarterly if there is a groundswell of support for it at the dinner.

"I was wondering if you would not mind contributing a small jarticle, which I could print in this magazine, perhaps on your ideas on what stance our government and thus the Conservative Party should take concern- ing the many delecate areas of foreign policy at the moment such as our role in the Lebanon, Hong-Kong and the Falklands. I would be very grateful if you would agree to this request and I would be happy to give you or send you a copy of our magazine.

With best wishes,

yours sincerely

Alexander
