PROPOSED VISIT TO CHINA BY LORD RHODES:

1. Lady Young has been following the minuting about Lord Rhodes' planned visit to China. She shares the concerns which have been expressed about this visit and would be very happy to speak to Lord Rhodes, whom she knows well, to try to discourage him from putting forward his ideas for a solution to the Hong Kong problem if it were thought appropriate. She has also commented that it might be worthwhile to mention our concerns to Lady Llewelyn-Davies whom she feels would exercise a restraining influence on Lord Rhodes.
