1. Mr Morris recently sent you a copy of a summary of a paper prepared on 24 August 1982 by a researcher at one of China's major mass media organisations'. While somewhat out-of-date

now, it is nevertheless interesting because of its bias towards. cooperation with the UK and the West generally.

We are also interested in some of the models mentioned in paragraph 7 of the paper, in particular the reimposition of control over Shanghai and the Panama Canal negotiations.
Mr Clift has already asked you to find out details of the Anlgo- Egyptian condominium over Chinese We would be grateful if you would also look at these. What we require is a note of the main provisions of the administration under the two systems with notes to indicate any possible significance for Hong Kong.
