1. I attach a copy of a letter I have just received from Michael
Yahuda about a conversation he had in Hong Kong with the Xinhua
correspondent Szeto Kung about the future of Hong Kong. I doubt
if any of what was said is new to you; but I thought you would
like this record of what is being said to one of the experts in
the field. I was particularly struck by point 9: not entirely
accurate but surprising it should have been mentioned even in
this form.
2.
Michael Yahuda is a specialist on Chinese foreign policy.
He works normally at the LSC (where, amongst other things, he
looked after some of the first Chinese graduate students to go
there). He is at present on a 2 year stint at Adelaide University.
