Sir Geoffrey Howe has agreed that Mr Luce, as the Minister of State with geographical responsibility for the region, should visit Brunei, Singapore and Hong Kong between 19 - 29 September.
The main object of the visit would be to conclude the defence negotiations with Brunei; and to have talks with the Governor and other leading members of the Community in Hong Kong, He will also take the opportunity of a stop-over in Singapore to meet Singapore leaders and to discuss the developments in Brunei with them. Mr Luce will be accompanied by a Private Secretary and one official.
