MR LUCE'S VISIT TO HONG KONG: KOREAN AIRLINER DISASTER
1.
The Korean airliner disaster, in which 14 Hong Kong residents were killed, has received wide publicity in Hong Kong there has been detailed press coverage of the international response, and in particular of action by IMG to obtain compensation for the families of those who died.
2.
The Hong Kong public will be quick to react if they think our efforts to obtain compensation are inadequate. It would help boost morale if Mr Luce were to refer publicly to the incident during his visit to Hong Kong. I attach a draft paragraph which could be inserted at the beginning of his opening statement at the Press Conference on 28 September. It might also be appropriate for Mr Luce to speak on similar lines to Unofficial members of UMELCO when he meets them on 26 September.
