VISIT BY MR LUCE TO HONG KONG:

HANDLING OF PRESS CONFERENCE

When Sir E Youde called on Mr Luce this afternoon, he warned that the Minister of State's press conference at the end of his visit to Hong Kong would need to be handled with very great care. He suggested that it would be a good idea to have the replies worked out before-hand to a wide variety of questions which were likely to come up, and added that he had already mentioned this point to you. has been set aside during the visit to go over this angle. However, Mr Luce would be grateful if you could put together for him, as a matter of some urgency, a comprehensive list of those questions that are likely to come up, together with suggested answers, with a view to an office meeting in the course of next week to go over the ground and to add any refinements that may be necessary before he sets out.
