The Governor of Hong Kong has advised that we should
allay concern by Members of EXCO about the degree of HMG's
support for Hong Kong. The reception of Sir S Y at a high level
in London is an important contribution. (In connection with
this a delegation of young professionals from Hong Kong (including Unofficial Members of LEGCO in their private capacities) will be visiting Peking about 10 days after Sir S
Y's visit to London. They have been promised an interview with a very senior Chinese leader (possibly Zhao Ziyang or Deng Xiaoping)).
