1.

Mr Stanbrook has won first place on the ballot for a

Private Member's Motion on 15 April 1983. We do not have the

actual text of the Motion but Mr Stanbrook has said that it

will be on the problems of the Dependent Territories.

The remaining Dependent Territories are: Anguilla,

Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean

Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland

Islands and Dependencies, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Montserrat,

Pitcairn Group of Islands, St Helena and Dependencies (Ascension

and Tristan da Cunha), Turks and Caicos Islands.

3.

Following the precedent set in 1976, the Sovereign Base

Areas in Cyprus, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are not

included.

4.

The Falkland Islands Dependencies (South Georgia and the

South Sandwich Islands) are British Dependent Territories,

legally distinct from the Falkland Islands. They are not

dependencies of the Falkland Islands but are administered by the

Falkland Islands Government which is empowered to legislate for

them.

5.

The Dependencies Ascension and Tristan da Cunha are dependent territories of St Helena.
