Thank you for your letter of 2 March enclosing the clipping from Leicester Mercury-
I note that you have copied the article to the Commissioner, ICAC and that you propose to show his letter (to Birmingham Evening Mail earlier) to the Chief Constable of Leicestershire and a senior member of the paper concerned. This seems to be a reasonable and sensible line to take.
On the article itself, my first reaction is that whilst the headline and the first paragraph carry unfortunate
(and to some extent unfair) references about Hong Kong, the rest of the article is relatively well-balanced. However, I am in touch with the Commissioner, ICAC and await his reaction.
