(F) Interview with the Prisoner
The Prisoner was interviewed twice on 18.8.81 and 28.9.81 in the Stanley Prison. In both interviews the Prisoner appeared to be calm and rather apathic towards the enquiry. He was rather evasive in relating his past and the information given in the two interviews varied. In the first interview, he claimed to have worked for Mr. WONG Ping since 1974. But as gathered from Mr. WONG, the date was said to be in 1979. When confronted with this in the second interview he could give no clear account but only excused that Mr. WONG was giving incorrect information because he was now a prisoner. Besides, the reasons he gave for renting a flat at Tai Tong Road, Yuen Long was unconvincing. In the first interview, he alleged that he wanted to start his own drug business there. In the second interview, he claimed that he had to take alternative shetler as he was being evicted by his landlord at the stone hut at Shui Ngau Leng. He denied to have belonged to a triad society and maintained to have no vice habit except following the Deceased to visit dance halls and clubs. He was most evasive in relating his associates and activities. Even when mentioning his cohabitant, he related in a cold tone stating that he maintained only a casual relationship with Ping Ping and was even not informed of her real name. He admitted to be closely linked with the Deceased during the recent years, but stressed that he was unfamiliar with the Deceased's friends. He confessed that he was very angry with the Deceased and hatred grew within his heart because he found that the Deceased had cheated him. Anyhow he strongly denied to have planned of the present murder crime, though he refused to disclose any details concerning the murder crime. Nevertheless he admitted his deeds had caused a human life. He expressed verbal regret and claimed to feel sorry for the Deceased's wife and son.
