3. Rm. 311, Pak Fung House, Choi Wan Estate, Kowloon
Failing to locate Prisoner's parents at the address in Wang Tar: Hom Estate, assistance from the said Estate Housing Manager as well as Prisoner on the update address were enlisted. It was then found out Prisoner's mother had recently been granted a self-contained type cubicle in Choi Wan Estate. They had moved in since 1.9.81. The address was a very newly completed housing cubicle of about 400 sq. ft. which was situated at a remote end of the Choi Wan Estate. Many cubicles were still left vacant. The cubcile of Prisoner's mother, however, had been fully decorated and installed with iron gate. The room area was very spacious and well lighted by a stretch of verandah on the other end where the kitchen and lavatory constructed. 2 bedrooms were partitioned each containing a double-berth bed. The rest was for sitting/dining room. As Prisoner's mother was alone at home who suffered from hearing difficulty, weak health due to advance age as well as speaking with heavy native accent, communication was rather difficult. However, it was managed to understand that she and the 2 grandsons stayed in 3 beds while the other one was left vacant most of the time reserving for her youngest son or Prisoner if they returned to visit her. She was unable to present the household registered card which was kept by her grandson. She was also unable to recall the addresses or telephone numbers of her other sons. Anyway, she expressed great satisfaction of the new improved living environment.

Prisoner seemed to have a very narrow social circle. In spite of his years of stay in Yuen Long and Kwun Tong districts, he had no real friends but merely business or daily acquaintances whom he sometimes communicated. So far, he managed to maintain a remote relationship with other co-tenants in the house in Kwun Tong until the moving in of the 2 young tenants a few months before the present offence occurred. All along, he had no hard feeling with the deceased although the victim and many other co-tenants tended to blame him for frequently bringing in police investigation because of his unceasing conflicts with the 2 youngesters. The Prisoner did not seem to have undesirable associates such as triad members or criminals.

Madam AU Yip (Prisoner's mother)
Madam Al was very senile with hearing difficulty and slow physical movement. She spoke in strong native accent and could only understand a little Cantonese. Being physically weak and left alone in a new environment most of the time, Madam AU seemed accustomed to accept friendly visits from religions bodies or social agencies without query, Simple and easily contented, Madam AU was dependent but seemed used to having no sons around except their occasional returns during Chinese festivals. Rather obvious, she had never been told about Prisoner's offence and imprisonment. According to her, Prisoner was the only filial son who gave regular financial contribution and made more frequent visits home than the rest. Prisoner's effort of placing his father in Care and Attention Home was appreciated. She expressed good
