Home Environment

10

This was the address of a private tenement housing in the district. Prisoner rented a middle room to live in after work before the present offence. He had been living in this address for over 3 years paying a monthly rent of $120. The whole floor area was partitioned into 6 cubicles occupied by 7 tenants including Prisoner and the victim who was in fact the house owner. The victim was an aged woman living alone. Instead of collecting the rent herself, she allowed a rubbish collecting woman living nearby to be the principal tenant for her. After the fire incident, all the former tenants moved away. The flat was re-decorated similarly and sub- letted to 6 new tenants who only returned after work in the evening. The house was thus locked up most of the day. All the former tenants could not be contacted for obtaining relevant information.

2. 6D, Wing Hing Street, 1/F., Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

This was the address last recorded by police before Prisoner's arrest. Prisoner rented 1 room to live alone. Information collected that the landlady's family also lived in the same flat. Unfortunately, 2 home visits had been made to the captioned address but was told behind closed door that no such tenant had lived there in the first visit while totally shut out with no one replying in the second occasion. Prisoner's living condition and relationship with oo-tenant here thus could not be assessed.
