This memorandum contains an assessment of the involvement of unemployed persons in crime based on reported crime for the period January 1980 to June 1982.

Although the statistics for March 1982 are not yet available, there are indications that the figures are close
to those for December 1981. Therefore the unemployed population was greatest in March 1981 but decreased thereafter.
