Condemned
The convict as well as the other 4 members of his family moved to o Che Estate, Sha Tin, 3 years ago. He had discontinued his studies after completing Form 2 and worked in a herbshop operated by the victim's husband who was his uncle. He hence resided in the shop and visited his family only during weekends.
2.
In July 1980, the convict quit his job in the herbshop and took up another as a security guard. He lived with his family in Wo
Che since then,
3.
It was reported that the convict had little social contact. His father attributed this to the substantially long working hours the convict had undertaken. His only hobby seemed to be playing mahjong with his relatives. He did contribute part of his income to the family.
4.
The convict's father held the view that the tragedy was cuaused by the dispute between the convict and the victim (his aunt) over money. He felt that it was disgraceful for his son to have committed the crime. As the convict had little interaction with his neighbours, the general attitude of the local community towards the crime committed is negligible. His father, however, felt that the convict should be held responsible for the murder.
