Since October 1978, Prisoner became a resident tenant at

Kwai Chung, where he rented a medium-sized cubicie au the rental of $660 per month. The flat itself used to be a commercial unit previously partitioned into 11 cubicles for residential use; sub- rented to mostly young Chinese immigrants. The flat is dark and poorly ventilated and the tenants have to share the kitchen and toilet in common use. The cubicle where Prisoner used to live is of simple furnish. There is a double bed, a double bunk, a wardrobe and a few chairs. The cubicle is now occupied by Prisoner's cohabit wife and her 20-year old younger brother.

Prisoner frankly revealed that he had become affiliated to the Shing Wo triad society years ago when he was working in a weaving factory at Tsuen Wan. He had maintained association with triad gang members all these years and had also come to know quite some underworld characters; particularly these recent years when he started doing business in partnership with those people. Apart from that, Prisoner had also been making association with a wide circle of Chinese immigrant friends.

Mr. Tsui is a 44-year old factory worker living with his wife and children at the above-mentioned address. Mr. Tsui and Prisoner are half-brothers born by the same father but different mothers. Being the only close relatives here in Hong Kong, they have been seeing each other quite often and Mr. Tsui has been responsible for looking after the prisoner at the initial stage of his arrival here some 14 years ago.
