On 19th March 1980,
was convicted
of the murder of Gahleb Teyfour and was sentenced to death.
A copy of the trial Judge's report on the case is at Annex A.

CHAN's appeal against conviction was dismissed
by the Court of Appeal on 15th July 1980.

He applied to the Privy Council for special leave to appeal against his conviction but such application was dismissed by the Law Lords on 15th October 1981.

His petition for clemency, made through Messrs
CHEUNG & CHAN, Solicitors, is at Annex B.
